When Brazilian politicians had an MMA fight to settle a dispute

Two politicians from Brazil, Simo Peixoto and Erineu da Silva, competed in a mixed martial arts (MMA) match to settle their argument on the development of a neighboring water park. During their prolonged disagreement, Da Silva had been referring to Peixoto as a “crook.” In the end, Peixoto accepted da Silva’s challenge for a fight—but only provided it happened in a real match setting. The MMA competition was held in the gym of a nearby Borba school, and hundreds of people paid to attend, though it’s rumored they were paid to attend. A 13-minute fight ended with Peixoto being declared the winner. How the altercation will impact the water park argument is still up in the air.
