Dana White Criticizes Jared Gordon and Herb Dean for Handling of Pimblett Fight

Last night’s UFC 282 featured a highly-anticipated bout between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon. In the end, Pimblett emerged victorious with a unanimous decision win, but the outcome left many fans and fighters perplexed and questioning whether Pimblett had truly done enough to earn the victory.

The fight started off with Gordon having success landing heavy left hooks that stunned Pimblett. However, Pimblett rebounded in the second round and landed some devastating strikes of his own. In the third and final round, Gordon changed up his gameplan and clinched with Pimblett against the fence. Despite multiple warnings from the referee, Herb Dean, the fighters were not separated and the round played out.

After the fight, UFC President Dana White shared his thoughts on the controversial ending. White placed blame on both Gordon and Dean, stating that Gordon’s gameplan in the third round was “horrible” and that Dean should have separated the fighters. White said, “A big fight, co-main event, third round, crowd’s going crazy, and you’re gonna let them stand against the fence the entire fight? What are you gonna do. Horrible gameplan by Gordon; the ref let it happen; and he threw the fight away.”

With the win, Paddy Pimblett improves to 20 – 3 in the UFC, while Jared Gordon has now lost two of his last three fights. It will be interesting to see how Gordon responds and whether he takes White’s advice to heart in his next outing.
